Club meeting this Saturday 20th June

Hi all

The Club will be meeting this Saturday at the Scout Hut as usual. As well as the usual pick-up games of 40k and Flames of War, there will be some Battlefleet Gothic games going on. For those of you who don't know, that is battles in space between huge spaceships, set in the 40K universe.

Space Hulk Redux (BWG style!)

Finally, forces of Disorder reach the heart of the space hulk, to be confronted by the daemonic entity controlling the ship. Despite tentacles dragging some troopers into the Warp, Chaos held on long enough to claim the ship. Does this mean the blast cannons of the ship will now be available to assist WH40K battles in the rest of the campaign? click to see big beastie

Thrall Harvest.

The Thrall Harvest was a great success, with over 200 cans being donated to a local charity. Well done to everyone who took part and helped run the event. Hopefully some pics will follow soon.

First place prize went to EldarVeteran, with his Karchev led Khador force. He is the proud owner of a new hardback Hordes Metamorphosis book - expect to see some new Trollbloods soon.

Thrall Harvest.

Hey Y'all.

Okay peoples, I'mma throw out the call here for Y'all to step up to the plate.

On February 28th Bury Wargamers will be having its first Thrall Harvest. This will be a five hundred point Hordes and Warmachine, tournament, in guts and gears format, conducted under steamroller 4.0 Rules. Now that sounds a little wordy and complicated. And later today I will be making a post on the forum listing what all of these things mean in detail. Also a more detailed blog post will be coming in the coming weeks.

But basically, those who went to ludicrus know steamroller 4.0, its actually posted up in that thread if you wanna hunt it down.

Guts and Gears, is not to dissimilar from mangled metal. But instead allows to bring only ONE solo and ONE unit, the rest of your force must be warjacks/beasts and warcasters/locks.

Now again you may ask. What is Thrall Harvest, and why now. Well I'll hit the second, first. Bury Wargamers was Uber busy in the actual harvest time, and January See's the start of Xergev(which will be taking a break for this.) So it was decided that February would be a better time, since its a general quiet month.

Now Thrall Harvest is this(taken from http://harvest.gamestlouis.com/rules.php ) Is basically what we're gonna be doing.

At any point during a game, a player may donate a canned good to create an in-game effect. These canned goods are in additional to any canned goods that were donated for the registration fee, so be certain to being plenty of canned goods so you can break plenty of rules. The following are the in-game effects that are generated by extra donations.

You may donate a canned good to:

  1. Re-roll 1 of your dice. Each subsequent time you break this rule, whether for it's for the same die or a different die, the cost to break this rule doubles. For example the 1st re-roll=1 can, 2nd re-roll=2 cans, 3rd re-roll=4 cans, 4th re-roll=8 cans. The cost resets back to 1 can at the start of your next turn.
  2. Force your opponent to re-roll 1 of his/her dice. Each subsequent time you break this rule, whether for it's for the same die or a different die, the cost to break this rule doubles. See Rule #1 for an example. The cost resets back to 1 can at the start of your opponent's next turn.
  3. Give your warcaster/warlock an extra focus/fury point. You may only break this rule once per round. This may be in excess of their focus/fury stat, but does not change the stat itself. Your warcaster/warlock receives this focus even if other effects do not normally allow him focus/fury points, such as Severius' feat or Eiryss' disruptor bolt.
  4. Remove 1 fury from a warbeast. This fury does not go to your warlock, it simply disappears. You may only break this rule once per round.
  5. Measure the distance between any 2 models on the board at any time.

You may donate 3 cans to:

  1. Generate 1 power attack that is not a charge without the usual penalties of "-2 for a smaller/equal sized target, -4 for a larger target". It does not cost a focus/fury to perform the power attack. Each subsequent time you break this rule, the cost to break this rule doubles. See Rule #1 for an example. The cost resets back to 3 cans at the start of your next turn.
  2. Have a warjack with 2 open fists perform a Rend power attack. See Hordes: Primal for the ruling on "Rend".
  3. Move a single terrain piece 5" in any direction before the game starts. Do this before seeing your opponents list. You may only break this rule once per game.

You may donate 10 cans to:

  1. If you win the "who deploys first and goes first" roll, you may deploy second and go first. You may not use Rule #1 nor #2 to re-roll the "who deploys first and goes first" roll.
  2. Force your opponent to make one of his advance deployment units non-advance deploy. You may only break this rule once per game. Decide this after seeing your opponent's list but before you roll for the "who deploys first and goes first" roll.
Nooooow what I'm also gonna do, instead of asking for a small entry fee, to cover prize support, your entry fee will be. One can. Also we will be accepting donations and our new Press Department(mostly consisting of me and Matt) Will be working to promote this to the larger area. I'm already gonna post details of this on the Privateer boards and the warmachine uk boards, and a couple of others too.

I'd like to see as big as possible turn out for this guys. Remember its not just about winning its about giving.

Runik Games

Although its been recently broached on the forum. Not everyone reads that. Runik Games has now opened in Bury St Edmunds. Next to boots, in what was formerly Jennifer's florist, oppoiste the cattle market. I'm totally exicted about this BWG and Bury having a LGS to go to, its awesomesauce. And I fully urge all of you to stop buy and see Symon and start picking things up from there. For us Warmachine and Hordes and Flames of war players. This is indeed awesome.
