BWG Update 5-5-14

The Escalation League is entering its final phase now, as the top 4 battle it out to find out who is top dog in the BWG.

Elsewhere, the Dread ball League and Cup competition is bubbling away nicely, with much death and team destruction happening on a regular basis. Also, a good selection of Board games and Card games are now played at club, Descent and Game of Thrones to name but two, with Spartacus soon to follow.

Whats going on at the BWG ?

Hi guys.

Just a short note to tell you about what's going on and what is in the future for us games wise at the club.

We currently have an Escalation League on-going for 40k, plenty of action and banter to be had there.

In a few short weeks, we will have a Dreadball League on the go and I look forward to pitting my Forge Father team against my friends.

If you have a tournament or league you want to start for your favourite game, post the details in the relevant area on the forum for all to see.

On a happy note, Warmachine is on it's way back to the BWG gaming tables and I for one am very happy to see it back.

Glory to Cygnar.

Spring 2013 Update

Whew, what happened to the Autumn / Winter period? Seemed to go in a rush. Anyway, just a short update to remind people that all the latest news/discussion/campaigns are over on our forum (check out the link on the right!) rather than this blog. Fantastic news that the Club is super busy at the moment, particularly in the early afternoon period, although it does mean that at times you might have to chill for a bit. Still, at least you get to see some of the great armies that are appearing on our boards these days or admire others generalship :-).  See you soon.

Bury Wargamers' First 40k Tournament - a Report

Well, on April 14th the club hosted its very first 40k Tournament.  The day was a great success, I think everyone who took part enjoyed it!

Well done to our members who walked away with prizes on the day - firstly, to Grant 'Grax Dragon' who won Best Painted Army for his Daemons:

Second place for Painting went to Hadleigh 'hads_chaos_dude' and his Chaos Space Marines:

Commmiserations to Matty 'Tap of Pointlessness' who won the (highly covetted!) wooden spoon:

Congratulations to James 'Pedro Kantor' for winning the award for Most Sporting Player:

Overall runner up was James Moore, who played 'Nids:

And congratulations to overall Tournament Winner Rem 'Nixon' with his pretty-much all-conquering Space Wolves army - surely time to retire these now, eh? ;-)

Thanks to Matt 'GreatCrusade08' for running a great tournament!  I think everyone that took part will be looking forward to the next one ;-)

Bury Wargamer's First 40k Tournament!

Hello, leaving aside all that Doom for a minute (ahem!), this Saturday will see BWG's inaugural Warhammer 40,000 tournament: 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'.

We currently have 16 members signed up for a day of five 1,000 point games, starting at 9.30am (doors open at 9am).

We still ahve space for a few more players, and there is still time to submit your application (until Friday) - if you're interested check out this thread on our forums: http://s15.zetaboards.com/BWGFORUM/topic/7152423

Look out for a report on the day's fun and carnage in due course!
